Welcome to Samuel Rhodes School

Hello, I have the privilege to have been asked to take over as Chair of the Governors this year. The Governors are a group of people who work with the Headteacher and other senior leaders to maintain the very high standards and wide range of exciting learning opportunities that the school provides, at all times focusing on the best possible outcomes for our young people.

Our governing body includes parents, staff representatives and people like me who the governing body appoints.  This means that we bring a wide range of different experiences and views.  We meet regularly with the senior team to discuss things like the curriculum, safeguarding, resources and finances and health and safety.  We also spend time discussing the data, looking at the progress that pupils make over time and asking questions about things like attendance and behaviour.  We act as ‘challenging friends’ who are committed to the pupils receiving the support and care necessary to excel.
