Work Experience

Work Experience is an essential part of our provision at SRS. Acting as a vital bridge between school and adult life, work experience gives our students the opportunity to develop and practice their wider skills in different environments. Each year, students throughout the school access a range of opportunities to learn about the world of work through careers week events such as workshops, talks and off-site visits.

On site

All students in Key Stage 4 have the opportunity for on-site work experience through the Tuck shop, where they develop skills in planning, money management and marketing.

All students in Key Stage 5 have the opportunity for on-site work experience through Independence Cafe where they build on their skills in planning, money management and marketing alongside developing their food preparation skills.

Year 11

Our Year 11 work experience offer is highly personalised, with students identifying their preferences at the end of year 10 and then appropriate placements and workplace visits are organised throughout year 11. This could be a week-long block or weekly visits depending on the need of the student and the type of placement.

Sixth Form

In our sixth form we build on past work experience to offer extended one day a week placement for 8 -10 weeks, which usually occurs in the Spring Term. These placements give our students the opportunity to build on their skills and develop positive professional relationships over time.
