Samuel Rhodes College and Next Steps Fair

In November, we invited colleges, providers of supported internships and a range of community support for independent living and employment. All students from Year 8 had the opportunity to visit the fair and engage with different organisations, asking questions and finding out more about opportunities beyond school. Their families were also invited to visit over the afternoon after an introductory meeting about preparation for adulthood with Jenny Johns (Deputy Head). The fair was also open to community visitors after 3pm.

Careers Week

18 different outside organisations worked with our students on and off site to show them the amazing local opportunities for the world of work and training. All students got a space in their first-choice workshop and extra opportunities.

Present Yourself Day

Our year 11 students spent a day developing their communication skills with businesspeople from the local community. The students spent the morning developing their skills and vocabulary before having the opportunity to run through a mock interview for a chosen job.

The students engaged in a range of activities and became more confident in articulating their strengths and interests over the course of the day.
