Transition and School holiday programmes
Year 6 to Year 7 Transition programme
Transitioning from primary to secondary school is a significant milestone, and at Samuel Rhodes School, we are committed to making this experience as smooth and positive as possible for every pupil.
Our Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Programme is carefully designed to support pupils emotionally, socially, and academically as they prepare for the next stage of their education.
Key features include:
Taster sessions that introduce pupils to school routines, expectations and meet key staff.
Transition booklet and social stories to support understanding and reduce anxiety.
Transition days during the summer holidays to help pupils explore their new environment and take part in various team building activities without the other pupils in the building.
Welcome meetings for parents with the Head Teacher and the Health Team at Samuel Rhodes School.
Parent meetings with Assistant Head & Pastoral Support to alleviate any worries or anxieties about transferring to Secondary School.
Ongoing communication with families and primary schools to ensure a joined-up approach and continued support.
We aim to build confidence, familiarity, and excitement, helping each pupil feel ready and reassured as they begin their journey into secondary education.
